Hazelnut is one of the world's four major dried nuts (walnut, almond, hazelnut, cashew), and is praised as the “king of nuts”. According to size, they are divided into large and small hazelnuts, and there is no difference in nutrition between them. So, how much does a large hazelnut sapling cost? What is the planting method?

I. How much does a large hazelnut sapling cost?

Large hazelnut saplings differ in price depending on the place of origin, variety and specification. The cheap ones cost 3 yuan/tree, and the more expensive ones cost ten to twenty yuan/tree. The specific price is subject to the local area. According to information provided by Baidu Aicaigou, the prices of large hazelnut saplings are:

1. Huifeng Nursery Stock Sales Office, Xiongyue Town, Bayuquan District, Yingkou City, Liaoning Province: Ping'ou large hazelnut saplings with a height of 0.7 (m) and a ground diameter of 0.7 (cm) cost 5 yuan/tree, and those with a height of 0.3 (m) and a ground diameter of 0.3 (cm) cost 3 yuan/tree.

2. Shandong Zibo Xinboyuan Agricultural Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd.: Ping'ou hybrid large-fruited hazelnut saplings with a height of 150 cm, a crown width of 20 and a ground diameter of 1.5 cost 5 yuan/tree.

3. Ruizhi Flower and Nursery Stock Horticulture Farm, Shuyang County, Suqian City, Jiangsu Province: large hazelnut saplings with a plant height of 1.5 (m), a diameter at breast height of 0.3 (cm), a ground diameter of 1 (cm) and a tree age of 2 (years) cost 7.86 yuan/tree; those with a plant height of 1 (m), a diameter at breast height of 0.2 (cm) and a tree age of 3 (years) cost 15.78 yuan/tree; those with a plant height of 2 (m), a diameter at breast height of 0.3 (cm), a ground diameter of 2 (cm) and a tree age of 4 (years) cost 29 yuan/tree.

II. Planting method for large hazelnut saplings

1. Site selection and orchard establishment

Hazelnut prefers a humid climate, and areas with an annual precipitation of 700-1200 mm are suitable for planting; it has strong adaptability to soil and can grow in loam, sandy soil, clay soil and slightly saline-alkali land, with a pH value of 6.0-7.5, and the gravel content must be below 30%; it has low requirements for terrain, with a slope of 5°-25°, and lower altitude is more conducive to the growth of hazelnut; hazelnut prefers light, so it is best to choose sunny slopes and semi-sunny slopes.

2. Land preparation and hole digging

Land preparation is best carried out in late summer and early autumn. After land preparation, dig holes. The specifications of the holes are preferably 50cm×50cm×40cm, and the density is 1.5m×1.5m. Plant 5-7 root seedlings per hole. If the soil organic matter and fertility are low, apply an appropriate amount of farmyard base fertilizer when backfilling soil during land preparation.

3. Planting of saplings

Large hazelnut saplings can be planted in both spring and autumn. In spring, it is best to do so around Qingming when the soil has thawed 30cm; in autumn, it is best to do so from late October to early November before the soil freezes. Two rounds of backfilling and tramping should be adopted, and the root seedlings should be completely buried with basically no soil exposure.

4. Weeding and loosening the soil

Weeding and loosening the soil should be carried out 2-3 times each year, preferably from late April to June. After weeding and loosening the soil, the root system is well developed, the sprouting ability is strong, and the growth is vigorous, which is conducive to growth and fruiting.

5. Artificial stumping

A hazelnut grove reaches full fruiting at 2-3 years old. When 3-year-old hazelnuts have finished fruiting, artificial stumping should be carried out in late autumn and early winter to promote the development and growth of new lateral roots and cultivate robust new vegetative plants.

6. Artificial reclamation

Artificial reclamation should be carried out at the same time as artificial stumping. For forest land with compacted soil, poor fertility and a relatively small slope, full reclamation can be implemented; for forest land with loose soil and a relatively large slope, hole reclamation can be adopted. Farmyard manure should also be applied as a top dressing according to soil fertility conditions.

The above is an introduction to the price of large hazelnut saplings and the planting method, and I hope it is useful to everyone.
