Doing a good job of seed treatment before sowing wheat can not only improve the germination rate of the seeds and ensure uniform and strong seedlings, but also effectively kill the pathogens carried on the seeds and reduce the occurrence of diseases later on. This lays a good foundation for increasing the per-unit yield. So how do you do a good job of seed treatment before sowing wheat?

Doing a good job of seed treatment before sowing wheat can not only improve the germination rate of the seeds and ensure uniform and strong seedlings, but also effectively kill the pathogens carried on the seeds and reduce the occurrence of diseases later on. This lays a good foundation for increasing the per-unit yield. So how do you do a good job of seed treatment before sowing wheat? Let's take a look together with the editor of Tuliu.com~

1. Sunning the seeds From harvest in the previous season to sowing in the next season, wheat seeds go through as long as half a year of high temperature and high humidity in summer and rainy and waterlogged weather in autumn. The adverse climate affects the germination rate of the seeds. Generally, about 7 days before sowing, spread the wheat seeds out to dry for 2~3 days to change the permeability of the seed coat, enhance the water absorption capacity of the seeds after sowing, and enhance enzyme activity, which is conducive to germination and emergence.

2. Seed selection Take the dried seeds, first winnow them, then sieve them, to remove impurities, shriveled grains, and diseased grains. Select large, plump seeds to improve germination vigor and lay the foundation for strong seedlings.

3. Chemical seed dressing In recent years, wheat rust, powdery mildew, smut and other diseases have caused relatively serious damage in our province. Chemical seed dressing has an obvious effect in preventing and delaying the onset of wheat rust and powdery mildew, can reduce the incidence of disease in autumn seedlings, and lower the source of overwintering infection. It has an even better preventive effect on smut and can basically control its damage. The main techniques are:

1. Triadimefon seed dressing Use 20 grams of 15% triadimefon wettable powder to dress 10 kg of wheat seed (the seed dressing agent is 0.296 of the seed weight). Use a seed dresser or a bag for manual seed dressing. The seeds must be dressed dry, not wet, otherwise it will cause phytotoxicity. When dressing, mix thoroughly, and cover the seeds after sowing. Note that it should be used with caution in waterlogged fields and poorly drained double-cropping fields, and medicated seeds must not be sown on rainy days.

2. Raxil seed dressing Use 10 grams of 2% Raxil seed dressing agent to dress 10 kg of wheat seed (the seed dressing agent is 0.1% of the seed weight), mix thoroughly, and cover the seeds after sowing.

3. Mix and use immediately The above two types of chemical seed dressing should be mixed and used immediately, and the medicated seeds should be sown within the same day (3 hours). Excess seeds after dressing must not be eaten or used as feed. After chemical seed dressing, the seeding rate should be increased by 10%-15%.
