Introduction to the cultivation methods of bamboo fungus (Phallus indusiatus) from the Phallaceae family, and how much does it cost per jin?
Bamboo fungus is an edible fungus of the Phallaceae family, and its nutritional value is very high. As a dish, it ranks above all other fungi and can be called the ultimate in color, aroma and taste. So, how is bamboo fungus grown? What is the price per jin? Here we introduce the cultivation methods of bamboo fungus and the price.
1. Introduction to bamboo fungus!
1. How does bamboo fungus grow?
Bamboo fungus is a cryptogamic fungus that parasitizes the roots of dead bamboo. Its shape slightly resembles a netted, dried white snakeskin. The cap is dark green, the stipe is snow-white and cylindrical, and the volva is pink and egg-shaped. At the top of the stipe there is a delicate, pure white, net-like skirt spreading downward from the cap; it is known as the “fairy in a snow skirt”, “flower of the mountain delicacies”, “flower of the fungi” and “queen of the fungi”, and has been listed since ancient times as one of the “eight treasures of the grass”.
2. Is bamboo fungus cooling or warming in nature?
Bamboo fungus is cooling in nature. It has the functions of nourishing yin and blood, supplementing qi and tonifying the brain, relieving cough and reducing phlegm, and reducing the accumulation of abdominal fat. It has good therapeutic effects on high blood pressure, high blood lipids, high cholesterol, coronary heart disease, arteriosclerosis and obesity. It can be eaten by the general population; people who are obese, mental workers, those with insomnia, the “three highs”, those with low immunity, and tumor patients can eat it regularly, but people with deficiency-cold of the spleen and stomach should not eat too much.
2. How is bamboo fungus grown?
1. Site: where to cultivate it?
Bamboo fungus can be cultivated in moso bamboo forests or bamboo-broadleaf mixed forests with gentle slopes, shelter from the north wind, a water source, fertile and moist soil with good drainage, and sandy loam soil. It can also be cultivated indoors using waste wooden boxes as containers. It can be cultivated when the temperature is above 7°C, and cultivation from October to December is preferable.
2. Soil: what kind of soil is used?
Bamboo fungus is a saprophytic fungus of bamboo forests, using dead bamboo roots, culms and leaves as nutrient sources. In the wild it mostly grows in bamboo forests of moso bamboo, flat bamboo, bitter bamboo and sinocalamus. The soil types include black loam, purple soil and yellow earth. For artificial cultivation, humus soil can be used.
3. Culture material: what is good about it?
The culture material is mainly dried bamboo culms, bamboo branches, bamboo rhizomes, bamboo leaves and other bamboo materials. Bamboo culms, branches and rhizomes are cut into small pieces 3-5 cm long and 1-1.5 cm wide, and bamboo leaves are cut into small pieces 2-3 cm long or crushed.
4. Inoculation: how is inoculation done?
First, spread a 5 cm thick layer of humus soil on the bottom of the box, on top of which spread a 4-5 cm thick layer of bamboo segments, wood segments or bamboo rhizomes, then spread a 2-3 cm thick layer of bamboo leaves on top, and then sow the spawn at a horizontal spacing of 6 cm and a vertical spacing of 8 cm. After sowing, cover with a layer of bamboo leaves, press gently and water thoroughly.
5. Management: how is it managed?
(1) Light: bamboo fungus mycelium does not need light to grow; light will slow the growth rate of the mycelium. Primordium formation and the final formation of fruiting bodies require a certain amount of scattered light. Too weak light affects fruiting body differentiation, and strong direct sunlight causes hindered growth and shrinkage of fruiting bodies.
(2) Temperature: bamboo fungus is a typical mesophilic fungus. The mycelium growth temperature is 4-28°C, with the optimum at 20-23°C; below 16°C or above 36°C growth is slow. The fruiting body formation temperature is 17-29°C, with the optimum at 20-24°C; above 28°C or below 15°C growth is slow, and above 35°C growth stops.
(3) Humidity: bamboo fungus has relatively high humidity requirements. During the mycelium growth stage, the water content of the substrate is required to reach 60%-70%; below 50% mycelium growth is hindered, and below 30% it becomes dormant or dies. Fruiting body formation requires an air relative humidity of 85%-90% and a soil water content of about 20%; when the air relative humidity is below 80%, growth is slow or the surface cracks.
(4) Oxygen: bamboo fungus is an aerobic fungus and needs sufficient oxygen throughout its growth process. With sufficient oxygen, both mycelium growth and fruiting body formation are faster; with insufficient oxygen, mycelium growth is slow or even dies, and fruiting bodies are prone to deformities.
6. Harvesting: when is it harvested?
Bamboo fungus can be harvested when the bud breaks and the skirt opens. It generally breaks the bud and opens the skirt in the early morning, and it must be harvested as soon as it opens; fruiting bodies with half-opened skirts or mature fungus eggs can also be harvested and brought indoors to wait for the skirt to fully open. After harvesting, grade them promptly and dry them by oven-drying or sun-drying.
3. How much does bamboo fungus cost per jin?
On the market, the price of one jin of bamboo fungus ranges from a few dozen yuan to two or three hundred yuan, varying with quality and place of origin. Generally speaking, good quality means a high price, and wholesale is cheaper than retail. The specific price is subject to the local market. According to information provided by Baidu Aicaigou, the prices of bamboo fungus are as follows:
1. Guizhou Bijie Zhijin County Deruixiang Agricultural Product Development Co., Ltd.: red volva bamboo fungus (gift box, 250 g) is priced at 348 yuan, and Zhijin red volva bamboo fungus (origin wholesale, 4 kg) is priced at 4486 yuan.
2. Yunnan Kunming Economic Development Zone Fuyuan Non-staple Food Business Department: dried bamboo fungus (bagged, 25 g) is priced at 19 yuan, dried bamboo fungus (bagged, 50 g) is priced at 31 yuan, and dried bamboo fungus (bagged, 70 g) is priced at 45 yuan.
3. Fujian Xīqí Agricultural Development Co., Ltd.: dried bamboo fungus (bagged, 100 g), minimum order quantity 5-29 bags is priced at 34.5/bag, minimum order quantity 30-99 bags is 34 yuan/bag, minimum order quantity ≥100 bags is 33.5 yuan/bag.
The above is an introduction to the cultivation methods and prices of bamboo fungus, and we hope it is useful to everyone.
