Xuelihong peach is a well-known peach tree variety in China, tasty and delicious, and many people grow it. So when do Xuelihong peach trees ripen? What are the greenhouse cultivation techniques? Below, the editor of Tuliu.com will explain it well.

When do Xuelihong peach trees ripen

Early-maturing Xuelihong peach under greenhouse cultivation ripens in mid-to-late April. The fruit shape is round and upright, the fruit apex is flat and even, the average single fruit weight is 150g, and the maximum fruit weight is 350g; the color is bright red, and the background color is milky white and delicate; the flesh is pure white, firm and fine in texture, sweet in taste, strong in aroma, and juicy, with soluble solids reaching as high as 12%~14%. It is storage- and transport-resistant and has extremely high commercial quality. It is currently an excellent fresh-eating peach variety for protected cultivation in our country.

Greenhouse cultivation techniques for Xuelihong peach

1. Standardized orchard establishment

1. Choose large and strong seedlings, with row spacing and plant spacing of 1.5m×1.0m. It is advisable to plant about 440 plants per 667 sq m, and configure pollinator trees at a ratio of 8:1.

2. Before planting, dig planting trenches, apply 2500~3000kg of organic fertilizer per 667 sq m, and adopt north-south row planting. Plant small seedlings in the first plant on the south side, and plant tall seedlings successively toward the north side. Planting in spring or autumn is both acceptable. After planting, water thoroughly to improve the survival rate, and then form ridges.

2. Planting management techniques

1. Promote first, then control

After planting and survival, when new shoots grow to 60cm, urea can be applied along with irrigation or fertilizer can be sprayed on the leaves. Before June, the main goal is to promote tree growth, so that the tree height reaches more than 1.5m and the crown diameter is about 1.0m, basically taking shape. By early July, spray 150~200 times paclobutrazol, and spray again after 10~15d, for a total of 2~3 sprays. At the same time, 0.3%~0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be sprayed 2~3 times to promote flower bud formation. During winter pruning, cut and retain appropriately according to the number of branches on the tree and the plumpness of flower buds.

2. Training and pruning

High-density cultivation adopts a trunk form to fully use the space in the greenhouse, while controlling the tree height in a stepped shape that is low in the south and high in the north, which can improve the light conditions in the greenhouse. Above 30cm from the ground, retain 1 fruiting branch every 15~20cm, spiraling upward; when the tree body sprouts in spring of the second year, repeatedly bend the branches growing from near the base on that fruiting branch many times to make them droop; after the fruit is picked, keep 1 branch near the base on that branch and cut off the rest.

3. Flower and fruit management

During the flowering period, artificial pollination or pollination by honeybees or mason bees can be used. Generally, each 667 sq m requires 1 box of bees or about 50 mason bees, and the beehive should be placed in the greenhouse about two weeks before flowering. If there are no honeybees or mason bees, artificial pollination is required. Xuelihong peach belongs to early-maturing peaches. Therefore, long fruiting branches retain 5~6 fruits, medium fruiting branches retain 3~4, short fruiting branches retain 2~3, flower-bouquet fruiting branches retain fruits at intervals or retain none, and reserve branches retain no fruit.

4. Fertilizer and water management

1. Apply base fertilizer in autumn. From September to October, apply base fertilizer by trenching, with trench depth and width each 30~40cm. Generally, apply 3000kg of decomposed chicken manure per 667 sq m, or 4000kg of decomposed cow manure or pig manure. After application, cover and water, and water thoroughly with a large amount of water to prevent root burning.;

2. Apply fruit enlargement fertilizer. During the fruit enlargement period, fertilizer can be applied to the soil or sprayed on the leaves. The fertilizer is mainly potassium fertilizer, combined with phosphorus fertilizer. Apply 200g per plant to the soil, and water after application, but the water amount should not be too large. Spray 0.3%~0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate on the leaves 2 times, with an interval of about 15d between sprays. It is best to spray it alone, not mixed with pesticides, for good effect.
