How to grow passion fruit? Mastering the correct seedling-raising method is very important
Passion fruit is a fruit we eat quite a lot in summer. Besides eating it directly, it can also be juiced together with honey and lemon, and many milk tea shops also add fresh passion fruit. It is precisely because of market demand that more and more people are now growing passion fruit. So have you mastered the passion fruit growing method? What are the points to note? Let's take a look together!
Passion fruit growing method
1. Soil and temperature
The first step in planting passion fruit is to find suitable soil. It is a tropical fruit, so its requirements for the growing environment are still relatively high, and it cannot survive in all regions, especially with regard to temperature and moisture. The best growing temperature is around 30 degrees. If the low temperature is very low, it is very likely to cause the passion fruit to suffer frost damage and then wither. Regions where the annual temperature can evenly reach above 18°C are most suitable for planting, and high yields can also be easily achieved.
2. Light duration
As we mentioned above, passion fruit is a tropical fruit, so it is certainly very sensitive to light. The stronger the light, the more it can promote the growth of passion fruit and allow it to accumulate nutrients. Passion fruit in many regions is shipped by air from Guangxi, because Guangxi has a tropical monsoon climate, and such temperature and geographical environment are very suitable for passion fruit growth, with relatively abundant rainfall as well.
3. Seedling-raising method
The most common cutting seedling-raising methods are the seedbed method and the arched shed method. By comparison, the cost of the arched shed is still very low, and it is also convenient to manage, making it the first choice for rapid seedling raising. Choose a paddy field with loamy soil, drain the water from the field after harvesting in October, and while the soil is half wet and half dry, use a rotary tiller to break up the soil, clean away the residual debris in the soil, and finally form ridges. It is recommended to set the cutting seedling-raising time around November, with April as a supplement, so that the goal of high yield can be achieved.
4. Drainage layout
The characteristics of passion fruit have already determined that its sunlight requirements are very high, and water accumulation will have a certain impact on the growth of passion fruit. When cultivating passion fruit, you should choose a place with convenient drainage and very sufficient sunlight. When cultivating passion fruit on terraced land, you can first use soil for harrowing, and dig drainage ditches according to a row width of 3M. Within the rows, apply base fertilizer at intervals of about 2M, and at the same time ensure that the amount of fertilizer applied at each point is the same, and after fertilizing, mix the surface soil and the base fertilizer evenly.
5. Pests and diseases
According to the relevant planting conditions, the viruses and pests that pose relatively great harm to the healthy growth of passion fruit are mosaic disease, neck base rot, aphids, and so on. The disease resistance of passion fruit is relatively strong, so when it is infected with neck base rot and root rot, the disease can be effectively controlled through various measures such as increasing the application of organic fertilizer, improving ventilation conditions, and strengthening water and fertilizer management. Basically, no pesticide is needed to control the disease. Aphids are relatively harmful to passion fruit, and once they occur, they will affect the yield and quality of the fruit. For this kind of pest, we can use appropriate drugs to control it.
Overall, growing passion fruit is not a very simple matter, and there is also a lot of preparatory work everyone needs to do in the early stage. The growing methods for passion fruit are actually gradually figured out through practice, and I hope this is helpful to you.
