When is the best time to sow peanut after wheat stubble?
Summer direct-sown peanut, commonly known as wheat-stubble peanut, is mainly rotated in succession with wheat to achieve two harvests of wheat and peanut in one year. Besides wheat, there are also garlic, potato, etc.
When is wheat-stubble peanut sown?
The sowing time for wheat-stubble peanut is before June 10, the earlier the better. Summer direct-sown peanut, commonly known as wheat-stubble peanut, is mainly rotated in succession with wheat to achieve two harvests of wheat and peanut in one year. Four points should be noted when planting wheat-stubble peanut: first, select early-maturing and high-yielding varieties; second, sow early by seizing the time, as in spring every day counts and in summer every hour counts, and early sowing is the key to determining whether wheat-stubble peanut can achieve high yield; third, apply nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer early and in increased amounts; fourth, ensure full stands and increase density.
The following points should be noted when planting wheat-stubble peanut:
First, select good varieties; since wheat-stubble peanut has a short growth period, early-to-mid-maturing, high-yielding and disease-resistant varieties must be selected;
Second, carefully select seeds; the seeds should be screened and graded to ensure uniform seed size;
Third, seize the time to prepare the land and sow; for plots with insufficient soil moisture, irrigation should be carried out 5-7 days before wheat harvest to build up moisture, and after wheat harvest the stubble should be cleared and the land prepared without delay, with sowing time before June 10, the earlier the better;
Fourth, irrigate reasonably; the growth and development stage of wheat-bran-mulched wheat interplanted peanut coincides with the high temperature and drought of the dog days, so timely irrigation should be carried out according to seedling condition and soil moisture, and after irrigation wheat bran should be spread between the rows as mulch, which can achieve the purpose of preserving moisture and increasing fertility; after the moisture has dispersed, cultivate and earth up before row closure to promote pegs to penetrate downward, so that there are many flowers and uniform pegs, reducing ineffective ones;
Fifth, apply heavy flowering-and-pegging fertilizer; during the flowering-and-pegging stage the vegetative growth rate of peanut accelerates, mainly shown in the rapid increase in leaf number and leaf area, while at the same time a large number of flowers form and pegs penetrate downward, making this a key period for building a good high-yield framework. Apply 10-15 kg of urea or 10 kg of diammonium phosphate and 10 kg of potassium sulfate per mu. For clayey soil it can be applied all at once, while for sandy soil it should be applied in two split applications, with an interval of 15-20 days being appropriate, to reduce fertilizer leaching and improve fertilizer efficiency.
