Zinnia Planting Methods and Care Tips
Zinnias can be planted through two methods: seed propagation or cuttings propagation. Seed propagation requires strict sterilization of the soil and seeds, and sowing during April to June is sufficient. After sowing, maintain the watering amount, but do not let water accumulate too much, which can cause root rot. For cutting propagation, you can choose 10 cm side shoots for cuttings, which generally take root in 5-7 days.
Zinnia Pest and Disease Control
1. White star disease
It occurs on the leaves. You can strengthen management by applying sufficient fertilizer, cultivating strong seedlings, protecting from rain and shading, and watering timely after planting out, avoiding flood irrigation. Strengthen greenhouse ventilation and reduce humidity. Remove diseased plant debris in time. In the early stage of the disease, remove the diseased leaves promptly, then immediately spray for control,
2. Black spot disease
Zinnia black spot disease is also called brown spot disease. You can choose a well-drained plot for planting. The planting density should be appropriate. Avoid continuous cropping. Seeds should be disinfected before sowing (soak the seeds in a 1000-fold dilution of 50% carbendazim wettable powder for 10 minutes). After autumn, collect diseased leaves, diseased stems, and so on and destroy them centrally to eliminate the source of infection for the next year. Keep seeds from healthy, disease-free mother plants. Spray with a 5000-fold dilution of 50% zineb or mancozeb. When spraying, pay special attention to spraying the leaf undersides evenly.
Overall, planting zinnias is relatively simple, and when encountering pests and diseases, everyone does not need to worry, as long as the right medicine is used in time and the correct method is used.
