How to Plant a Mango Seed? Detailed Planting Methods and Steps
Dry the hard shell on the outside of the mango seed in the sun, then peel it off. Use scissors to cut along the edge of the mango seed, slowly removing the impurities inside the shell to obtain the mango seed. Then soak the mango seed in water until it sprouts, and place it in soft soil for seedling cultivation. After the seedling is successfully grown, remember to repot. Potted plants are best placed in a spot with plenty of sunlight, and be sure to water them in time.
1. Removing the Shell
After just eating a mango, you are left with the mango seed. At this point it is too slippery and difficult to open. You can leave it under the sun to bake until the outside dries out. Then use scissors to cut along the edge, slowly removing the impurities inside the shell, and keep the plump seed.
2. Growing the Seedling
Soak the mango seed in water until it sprouts, just like growing bean sprouts, changing the water regularly. You can also let the seed soak up enough water, wrap it in a towel, and place it in a dark but relatively warm spot to let it sprout on its own. Plant the sprouted mango seed in soil; the soil must be fertile, and do not bury the seed too deep, otherwise it is not good for growth. Just a little soil covering the seed is enough.
3. Transplanting
Mango is a tropical plant, so for home potted planting it is best to place it on a balcony. After the seedling is successfully grown, remember to repot. Every year, March to April in spring and September to October in autumn are the best seasons for planting mangoes.
