How to Propagate Spider Plants by Division: Detailed Methods and Steps
Spider Plant Division Propagation Method
You can lift the spider plant out of the pot, remove the old soil and rotted roots, and cut apart the old roots; make sure each divided plant retains three stems, then transplant and grow them separately. You can also cut off the clustered stems and leaves on the spider plant's stolons (which are actually a young new plantlet, with leaves above and aerial roots below), and simply plant them directly into a flower pot to grow.
Transplant the separated root system; alternatively, you can let the spider plant's rhizome grow new roots first, then cut it off and transplant it, and new roots will grow in about two to three days. Prune the plant to a certain extent, cutting off dead roots and yellow leaves. Although this method of propagating spider plants by division is very convenient, it easily damages the roots; if not done correctly, it can affect its growth and may even cause the mother plant to die.
