How to grow broad bean sprouts? Detailed growing method
Seed soaking: Wash the prepared broad beans with cold water and soak them for two days; the amount of water depends on the number of seeds. Growing container: A dedicated mesh tray or an ordinary foam box will both work, then spread the seeds on the seedling paper. Management: Water moderately, and do not let the sprouts come into direct sunlight; harvest only after one week of sprouting.
Growing method for broad bean sprouts
1. Seed soaking treatment
First wash the beans with cold water about 3 times to remove dust and floating debris, then soak them for 2 days; the ratio of seeds to water can be about 1:3.
2. Growing container
It is best to buy a mesh tray and seedling paper made specially for bean sprouts, then spray the seedling paper wet with water, and evenly spread the soaked seeds on the seedling paper in the mesh tray.
If you do not have a mesh tray, an ordinary foam box will also work, but you need to poke several holes evenly in the bottom of the box for drainage and air flow.
3. Daily management
After sowing, the following measures need to be taken for the daily management of the sprouts:
(1) Temperature: Before the sprouts germinate, the temperature needs to be controlled at 18-22°C; after sprouting, the temperature can be raised appropriately, but it should not exceed 25°C.
(2) Watering: Watering is very important for sprouts, and the specific amount can depend on the weather conditions. When the temperature is high, water 3-4 times a day; when the temperature is low, watering once a day is enough; in normal weather, keeping a watering frequency of about 2 times a day is sufficient.
(3) Light: Do not let the sprouts come into direct sunlight; it is best to provide shade.
4. Harvesting
Usually the sprouts can be harvested and eaten in about 1 week after sprouting, when they have grown to about 8-10 cm.
