How to Grow Strawberries

1. Choosing the Pot and Soil

Before planting strawberries, choose a pot with holes in the bottom, because those holes are for drainage. After choosing the pot, you also need to choose soil suitable for growing strawberries. In fact, strawberries are not that demanding about soil. As long as the soil is fairly loose, well aerated and somewhat nutritious, it will do. Usually, leaf mold soil from the garden is enough.

2. Choosing Strawberry Seedlings

Put the soil into the pot. Generally, I suggest buying small strawberry seedlings to plant, as this is faster than growing them from strawberry seeds and saves time. In fact, strawberries can be grown in pots in spring, summer and autumn every year. However, growing strawberries in autumn is easier, because the autumn weather is more suitable for growing strawberries.

3. Watering

After the strawberry seedlings are planted, you can simply place them on a south-facing balcony. From then on, you need to care for them well. Like all plants, they must be watered on time, and the soil in the pot must be kept moist. In summer, water twice a day; in any case, do not let the soil dry out.

4. Fertilizing

In spring and autumn, fertilize it once every 30 days. When it produces small strawberries, apply a compound fertilizer about every ten days. If you want it to grow well, sunlight is certainly indispensable. When winter comes, move it indoors, because its best growing temperature is 21°C to 26°C, and if the temperature falls below 10°C, it will cause some harm to the growth of the seedlings.
