When is the best time to sow strawberry seeds?
Current strawberries are mostly planted in spring, but other times can also be arranged according to when the seeds are collected, and the planting volume in July-August each year is also very large. Different regions have obvious environmental temperature differences, and more and more strawberry varieties can be planted throughout all four seasons.
Strawberry management work
1. Fertilizer and water management
For potted strawberries, apply fertilizer once every 7-10 days. It is best to use a mixed liquid made from 10-30% cake fertilizer, fish scraps, or poultry viscera fully fermented and decomposed in water, applying it once about every 10 days, applying little but often, and combining it with watering. You can also spray the leaf surfaces in the morning and evening with monopotassium phosphate at a concentration of 0.3%. For outdoor potted plants, the leaves are prone to wilting from lack of water, so water lightly once in the morning and once in the evening. Keep the soil in the pot moist at all times. Except in summer, when the flower pot should not be placed directly in the sun to bake, and is best placed inside a shaded greenhouse, in other seasons it should be placed in a place with ample sunlight.
2. Plant management
The young tender runners that are sent out should be removed promptly. If the purpose is ornamental and you do not let it bear fruit, you can keep the runners so that they grow clusters of leaves that naturally droop, hang them up, and cultivate them into a strawberry bonsai resembling a spider plant. Remove yellow leaves promptly. At the base, add soil promptly until the crown of the seedling is exposed. If conditions permit, after fruiting in spring, change the pot once around the Beginning of Autumn, adding new culture soil to the new pot, breaking off the black and old roots, and then planting it into a pot slightly larger than the original one for renewal and rejuvenation. Before winter arrives, move outdoor potted strawberries indoors to a sunny place, or place them on a closed balcony facing the sun. If the temperature is too low, you can cover the pot with a layer of plastic film to keep it warm, and remove it again when the temperature is high at noon.
