Some watermelon varieties commonly seen on the market today:

1. Chunlei Watermelon

This variety has oval fruit with a fruit shape index of 1.25. The rind is thin and tough, only 0.6 cm thick; the base color of the fruit surface is emerald green, evenly marked with dark green fine stripe bands. The gaps between the bands are relatively wide with few stray spots. The surface is glossy and attractive. The flesh is bright red. The flavor is sandy-sweet and refreshing, not hollow, the flesh does not collapse, and it has relatively little cellulose; the soluble solids content is above 13.9%, the gradient in sugar content between the center and the edges is small, the edible rate is high, and the quality is excellent.

2. Qilin King Watermelon

Qilin King Watermelon is extremely early-maturing, ripening about 28 days after flowering. The plant grows vigorously, the fruit is oval, and the rind is light green interspersed with dark green striped markings, giving it a beautiful appearance. The flesh is bright red, crisp and refreshing in texture, with few fibers and plenty of juice, containing 12.9% soluble solids. The rind is tough and not prone to hollowing, and a single fruit weighs about 5.0 kg. It is disease-resistant, high-yielding, and tolerant of continuous cropping.

3. Red Little Jade

This variety is a first-generation hybrid of an early-maturing small-fruited gift-type watermelon. The fruit is tall and round, with a fruit shape index of 1.1, and a single fruit weighs about 2 kg. The fruit shape is neat and the fruits are uniform; the rind is dark green with 16-17 fine tiger-stripe-like bands, and the appearance is beautiful.

4. Black Beauty

Black Beauty watermelon is extremely early-maturing, with long oval fruit and a deep black-green rind bearing indistinct colored stripes. When harvested in summer, the rind color is relatively light, the appearance is very attractive, and the fruit weighs about 2.5 kg. The flesh is red, fresh and tender, and very juicy, with a sugar content as high as about 14-15. The quality remains consistently sweet all the way to the tail end of the fruit, and the rind is thin yet tough, making it especially tolerant of storage and transport.

5. Early Spring Red Jade

This variety is a first-generation hybrid extremely early-maturing small red-fleshed watermelon. Planted in spring, it is harvested in May, ripening 35 days after fruit set, with a fruit development period of 28-30 days. The plant has strong growth vigor, the fruit is long oval, about 20 cm in longitudinal diameter, and a single fruit weighs 1.5-1.8 kg.

It won't be long before fresh watermelons hit the market, and for friends who love eating watermelon, that is certainly a happy occasion.
