To plant eucalyptus, you first need to choose a suitable plot, whether in mountainous areas or on plains. After choosing the plot, you need to prepare the land, dig holes, apply base fertilizer, and then choose a suitable time for planting. You can plant in spring, planting the selected eucalyptus seedlings deeply and firming the soil. After successful planting, just carry out management tasks such as weeding, loosening the soil, and fertilizing.

1. Plot selection

Eucalyptus can grow well whether in mountainous areas or on plains, and it is suitable for growing in acidic red soil, yellow soil, and deep alluvial soil, but it grows well in places with deep, loose soil and good drainage.

2. Digging holes

After choosing the plot, you need to prepare the land and dig holes. When digging holes, the row spacing and plant spacing are 3m×2m, and the hole size is 1250px×1250px×1000px, arranged in a zigzag pattern. Apply base fertilizer in the holes; you can fertilize 1 month before planting, and when backfilling soil, you can also apply ammonium phosphorus potassium fertilizer mixed with organic fertilizer in the manner of hole application. The base fertilizer is usually fermented municipal solid waste or barnyard manure.

3. Planting

You can choose to plant in spring, because spring temperatures are suitable and rainfall is abundant, so the survival rate of the saplings is relatively high. Choose robust seedlings and treat them for disease and pest prevention. Plant the saplings deeply and firm the soil. Note that the sapling root system is relatively fragile, so do not let it come into direct contact with the base fertilizer to avoid burning the roots.

4. Management

Within 3 to 6 months after the saplings are successfully planted, ensure sufficient light and nutrients, pay attention to removing weeds, and also carry out soil loosening. Eucalyptus needs relatively more fertilizer in the first 3 years, so timely topdressing is required, and the timing and amount of topdressing should be determined according to the growth of the eucalyptus. Eucalyptus diseases include scorch disease, bacterial wilt, stem rot, and gray mold, while the main pest is subterranean termites, which should be controlled by timely spraying.
