How do you plant durian seeds? Here is the correct planting method
First, choose a neutral soil that is soft, loose and breathable, and rich in organic matter. Then wash the durian seeds clean and soak them in water; usually by the next day the outer skin will split open, revealing the creamy-white inner kernel. Then place the soaked durian seeds on top of the soil and just cover with 1 cm of thin soil. Wait until the roots fill the pot and the root hairs poke out from the bottom of the flower pot before repotting.
1. Soil requirements
Durian likes neutral, soft, loose and breathable soil rich in organic matter. The soil organic matter content is generally required to be 8%-12%. First, you can buy the common humus soil sold at flower markets, and depending on your own conditions, add organic matter such as sphagnum peat or turf, wood shavings, or crushed pieces of rotten pine bark.
2. Seed treatment
For treating durian seeds, there is no need to peel off the outer skin of the pit. Wash the durian seeds clean, then soak them in water. As long as the temperature is suitable, by the next day you will usually see signs of the outer skin splitting open, and you can faintly see the creamy-white inner kernel about to emerge. At this point you can plant them: first put in 8—10 cm of soil, then place them on top, then cover with 1 cm of thin soil, and that is enough.
3. Repotting
Wait until the roots fill the pot and the root hairs poke out from the bottom of the flower pot before repotting. When repotting, cut the old flower pot apart, because damaging the roots makes it hard for durian to survive.
