After planting, pay attention to the growth of Rosa roxburghii, water and fertilize appropriately, and carefully control pests and diseases so that the plants can grow vigorously.

Planting Rosa roxburghii

1. Propagation methods

Rosa roxburghii has two propagation methods: cuttings and sowing. For sowing, the season can be chosen in spring and autumn, when the Rosa roxburghii seeds have no obvious dormancy period. Once the seeds mature, they can be sown, and the seed survival rate is above 90%. Soak the seeds in warm water for half a day or one day before sowing, so that the seeds germinate earlier and the germination rate also becomes higher. Cuttings cannot be taken in winter; cuttings can be taken in spring, summer, and autumn. Take relatively robust branches grown last year, cut them into 10-12cm sections, make a slanted cut below the lower bud and a slanted cut above the upper bud.

2. Planting time

The best time for field planting is between December and February. Before planting, we should prepare the planting site by tilling the soil and applying fertilizer. Dig planting holes at a spacing of 1.5X2 m between plants and rows. When digging the planting holes, dig them according to a specification of 50 cm in both length and width. Before planting, apply base fertilizer into the holes, and add a small amount of calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus fertilizer. When planting, spread out the roots of the plants and do not let the roots become tangled together.

3. Field management

After field planting, always pay attention to the growth of the plants, and water and fertilize reasonably according to the growth of the plants. In dry weather, promptly give the plants sufficient water. When rainy weather occurs frequently, do a good job of drainage in the planting site to avoid excessive water accumulation, which can affect the roots of the plants. Also do a good job of cultivating and weeding in the planting site so that the plants grow more robustly. We should also do a good job of preventing and controlling pests and diseases in the planting site.
