Snake plants (Sansevieria) are suited to growing in humus-rich sandy soil, at temperatures generally between 20-30°C, above 5°C in winter, and below 30°C in summer. They have high light requirements and can be exposed to direct sunlight. However, they are prone to waterlogging, so when watering, it is better to keep them dry than wet; generally, apart from watering more in spring, the soil can be kept on the dry side the rest of the time. In addition, for snake plants that have been growing for a relatively long time, the potting soil can be changed every other year to promote root growth.

Points to Note When Growing Snake Plants:

1. A light environment that is too dark is unfavorable for its growth, but direct sunlight in summer can also cause certain effects, such as leaf scorch; especially when the light is intense in summer, do not spray water on the leaves, otherwise leaf spots will form on the leaves.

2. Generally speaking, a temperature of 6 to 10°C is suitable for overwintering, while low temperatures below 5°C will cause cold damage.

3. During care, aging leaves can be pruned regularly to encourage new leaves to sprout from the base, so that the leaves can remain robust; the pruned leaves can be used for cuttings to propagate new plants.

4. When ventilation is poor, scale insects may appear, and in an overly humid environment there may be damage from slugs; when there are few pests, they can simply be brushed off with an old toothbrush or removed with tweezers.

5. Snake plants will bloom when grown under certain conditions, but the flowers are not attractive, so it is recommended that once flower buds emerge, they be cut off promptly so that nutrients are concentrated on leaf growth, which will be more beneficial for their care.

The above is an introduction to snake plant care methods, and we hope it is helpful to everyone.
