The stem-broadcasting method and the root-planting method are currently the two most commonly used methods. How to Grow a Lawn

(1) Sowing method: Most lawns can be sown in spring or autumn, and sowing in late autumn gives the most uniform emergence. After sowing, rake the surface in lengthwise and crosswise strips with a rake, then firm it with a wooden roller. After sowing fine seeds, cover them with rice straw to preserve moisture.

(2) Turf-laying method: Move turf to another place just like laying floor tiles. This can build a lawn quickly, but the investment and labor required are relatively large.

(3) Stem-broadcasting method: Suitable for bermudagrass, carpet grass, fine-leaf zoysia grass, creeping bentgrass, buffalograss and so on. The best time is early spring, and it can also be done during the rainy season. First cut creeping stems from the lawn, cut them into small sections 5 to 8 cm long, and each section must have a node, then sow them in rows or broadcast them.

(4) Root-planting method: Suitable for grass species whose plants have no stems or vines but have many tillers, such as tufted sedge, velvet grass and so on. The best time is early spring or the rainy season. Trim off part of the fibrous roots from the plants, take 2 to 3 seedlings as a clump, tear them apart, and then plant them in holes or rows at a certain spacing between plants and rows. Cover with soil as you plant; a soil cover thickness of about 2 cm is appropriate. After covering with soil, press it down gently and water thoroughly. In general, the simpler, easier and more money-saving methods for planting turf are the stem-broadcasting method and the root-planting method.
