Select some high-quality black bean seeds, wash them 2-3 times in 30-degree water, then soak them overnight, remove and rinse them, spread them evenly on a seedling tray, then cover them with paper and place them in a cool spot. During this period, sprinkle water once every morning and evening; in hot summer weather, you can increase the number of waterings. After a week, sprouts will appear, and after about 10 days they can be harvested and eaten. If you prefer more tender sprouts, you can harvest them when the sprouts have grown to about 5cm.

Detailed steps of the black bean sprout growing technique:

1. Variety selection

For growing black bean sprouts, you should choose varieties that sprout quickly, have a short growth cycle, produce sprouts of uniform thickness, have strong disease resistance and good palatability. Currently, the commonly used varieties are GanniuLiao black bean and Pingding black, and it is best to use black beans harvested in the current year.

2. Seed treatment

Before growing black bean sprouts, first winnow the seeds and float them in water, removing seeds that are mechanically crushed or damaged, insect-infested, moldy or too small. When floating them in water, rub and wash them repeatedly and gently by hand, repeatedly skim off impurities and inferior beans, then scoop the black beans into a bamboo sieve to drain off the water.

3. Warm-water seed soaking

Pour the drained black beans into 55°C warm water for warm-water seed soaking, stirring quickly and continuously in one direction. The amount of water used for soaking is twice the amount of dry seeds. After stirring for about 15 minutes, add an appropriate amount of cold water, and when the temperature drops to 25°C, soak them. At the same time, add one tube (2 ml) of rootless bean sprout hormone, stir evenly, and soak the seeds for 24 hours. By then the black beans have absorbed enough water; rinse them 2-3 times with clean water, pour them into a bamboo sieve to drain off the water, air-dry for 3-5 minutes, and prepare for sprouting.

4. Disinfection and sprouting

Lay a layer of toilet paper on the bottom of a disinfected foam box, spray it moist with 25-30°C warm water, and spread the black beans evenly in the box, letting the beans lie close together in a dense layer on the bottom of the box. Use 350 grams of dry bean seeds per box. After spreading, spray with 20°C warm water; the amount sprayed should be such that no water drips from the foam box and no water accumulates, so as to avoid the seeds rotting. Then stack the trays in piles of 6 trays each to promote sprouting.

5. Seedling-stage management

During the entire production process of black bean sprouts, spray water 2-4 times a day. If the temperature is high and the humidity is low, spray more; otherwise spray less. Spray less in the early growth stage, and since growth is rapid in the later stage and the water demand is high, spray more. In addition, promptly remove moldy and rotting seeds to avoid creating a center of infection that infects the surrounding bean seeds. When the foam box is used again, it must be thoroughly disinfected with fungicide and exposed to the sun for 3-4 hours.

The above is the relevant introduction to the black bean sprout growing technique. We hope it is helpful to everyone.
