Red Bean Sprout Cultivation Methods and Technical Key Points
Prepare some plump, brightly colored red bean seeds, soak them in 20°C water for 16-24 hours, changing the water four times during this period, then remove them, wrap them in gauze, and place them in a cool place to sprout. Once sprouted, spread them evenly on a seedling tray, cover with a thin layer of paper, and place in a cool spot. When the sprouts grow to about 15 cm, they can be cut and eaten. During the seedling period, water once each morning and evening, but do not let water accumulate.
Detailed cultivation method for red bean sprouts:
1. Cultivation equipment
In a dark, light-blocking indoor space or protected area, build a cultivation trough with bricks that is 100-120 cm wide and 20 cm deep. Lay plastic film on the bottom of the trough and punch holes in the film at intervals to drain excess water. Use vermiculite, perlite, river sand, etc. as the substrate.
2. Seed selection
Select new seeds that are plump, brightly colored, with a white hilum, and a germination rate above 95%. Remove seeds that are not plump, broken, or insect-damaged, as well as impurities. Rinse with clean water, float off the shriveled seeds, and wash the seeds clean.
3. Soaking and sprouting
Soak the seeds in clean water at about 20°C for 16-24 hours, changing the water 4 times. After soaking, wash off the mucus and dirt, wrap them in a wet cloth to sprout, and once the seeds show white sprouts, they can be cultivated.
4. Cultivation
The substrate thickness is 10 cm; water thoroughly to the bottom. Then sow the sprouted seeds on top, sowing about 2 kg per sq m, and cover with 05 cm of substrate. Spray water with a fine-nozzle watering can, then cover with plastic film. Generally, do not water again before emergence. After two days, when the red bean sprouts push out of the substrate, remove the film.
5. Cultivation management
The temperature should be maintained at 16°C-30°C. Water 2-3 times a day. The water should be applied evenly and thoroughly, but not allowed to accumulate. Keep the air in the space fresh.
6. Harvest
When the red bean sprouts are 15 cm tall, the first pair of true leaves has not yet fully unfolded, and the tissue is tender and not fibrous, cut them along the base of the stem.
