The planting of mountain grapes begins with selecting a site, and field planting is carried out from December each year to April of the following year. Before planting, land preparation and fertilization must be done well. In the year of planting, fertilize once every half month for 3-5 consecutive times; starting from the second year, fertilize 4-5 times per year. Once the mountain grapes grow vigorously, pruning and training should be done promptly, and flower and fruit management should be carried out well. Finally, pest and disease prevention and control should be done in advance.

Characteristics of mountain grapes:

1. High quality

Beautiful in appearance, blue-black, with a thick bloom, uniform ripening, uniform coloring, compact and neat berries, no fruit cracking, no berry shattering, slightly thick skin, especially suitable for long-distance transport, and conducive to establishing large-scale production bases for industrialized development. Sugar content reaches about 20%, with a rich honey aroma. Mountain grapes not only have good fresh-eating quality, but their wine-making quality is also first-class. They will end the situation in which wine factories in southern China cannot produce high-grade wine due to poor raw material quality, and will serve as the preferred raw material for making high-grade wine, elevating the quality of Chinese wine.

2. High yield

Mountain grapes grow especially vigorously, are suitable for trellis and courtyard corridor cultivation, and are suitable for sparse planting, requiring very few seedlings, with 20-30 seedlings per 667 sq m (ordinary grapes require 200 seedlings). In the second year, the yield per 667 sq m can reach 1000 kg; in the third year, the yield per 667 sq m can reach 2500 kg; in the fourth year, the yield per 667 sq m can reach 4000 kg, with a maximum of 6500 kg (ordinary grape varieties yield 2000 kg). As long as fertilizer and water are sufficient, high and stable yields can be achieved every year thereafter, with basically no alternate bearing.

3. High economic benefit

This variety ripens late, generally can be picked and marketed in late August, fully ripens in mid-September, and can be left on the tree until mid-October for harvest, with sugar accumulation gradually increasing and better flavor. It coincides with sales during the two major festivals of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, fetching extremely high prices, with economic benefits per 667 sq m reaching over 10,000 yuan.

Mountain grapes have high quality, an extremely beautiful appearance, and are easy to color, making them very suitable for promotion and planting as a new late-ripening, highly resistant grape variety in southern China.
