How to regrow enoki mushrooms: a detailed guide
First, cut off the harder, darker part of the enoki mushroom roots. Next, choose a suitable container, add baking soda and water, stir well, then place a few sheets of wet paper towel on top. Then, put the cut-off enoki mushroom roots on top of the wet paper towel, seal the container well with plastic wrap, and place it in a cool, ventilated environment. Finally, just wait for the enoki mushrooms to sprout.
1. Cut off the roots: Choose ones with relatively intact roots at the market; it is even better if a little soil is still attached, then cut off the harder, darker part of the roots. If the root area is darker in color or relatively hard, this part can be cut off; if the enoki mushrooms are relatively hard, then cut off a bit more.
2. Prepare the container: Choose a suitable container with a height of about 10cm, then put two or three spoonfuls of baking soda into the container. If there is no baking soda, edible alkali can be used instead, then add an appropriate amount of water; the water level should be about half the height of the roots, stir well, then place a few sheets of wet paper towel at the bottom of the container. Or prepare a plastic bag, put a sheet of paper towel inside, and moisten the paper towel with baking soda water.
3. Place the roots: Put the cut-off enoki mushroom roots on the wet paper towel in this container, then seal the container well with plastic wrap and place it in a cool, ventilated environment; or put the cut-off roots on a paper towel moistened with baking soda water, then place it in a plastic bag and seal it well, placing it in a dark place where sunlight cannot reach at all.
4. Wait for regrowth: Enoki mushrooms are a type of fungus and have a very strong ability to regrow. As long as the environment is suitable, they can grow quickly. We have provided them with a moist and alkaline environment, and if the temperature is kept at around 5-10 degrees, they can grow on their own. They will sprout in about a week, and in about 2 weeks you can harvest a new batch of enoki mushrooms.
