Guiyuan is a fruit with nourishing and tonic properties, also known as longan. It originated in southern and southwestern China, and is now mainly distributed in Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian and Taiwan, China.

Fertilization management during guiyuan cultivation:

1. Flower-promoting fertilizer

In late February, after the flower spikes emerge, apply per plant 0.25-0.5 kg of potassium chloride plus 0.25-0.5 kg of compound fertilizer and 0.25-0.5 kg of bran fertilizer, diluted with water or applied in shallow furrows, to promote the quantity and quality of flower bud differentiation, increase the heading rate and enlarge the flower spikes.

2. Pre-flowering fertilizer

From late March to early April, 10-15 days before flowering, top-dress according to tree vigor and flower quantity: apply more when there are many flowers, less or none when there are few. Apply per plant 0.2-0.3 kg of bran fertilizer, 0.2-0.3 kg of potassium chloride, 0.1-0.2 kg of compound fertilizer and 0.2-0.3 kg of urea, diluted with 30-50 kg of water for drenching.

3. Fruit-retention and fruit-fattening fertilizer

Longan flowering consumes a large amount of nutrients, and the emergence of summer shoots coincides with fruit development and swelling, so timely nutrient supply is very important. After flowering ends and until the fruit is about the size of a soybean, apply per plant 30-50 kg of decomposed human manure and urine, plus 0.2-0.3 kg of bran fertilizer and 0.2-0.3 kg of compound fertilizer.

4. Pre-harvest fertilizer

5-7 days before harvest, use 0.3-0.5 kg of composted and decomposed peanut bran, 0.2-0.3 kg of potassium chloride and 0.2-0.3 kg of compound fertilizer, diluted with water for drenching, to promote the first autumn shoot from late August to early September, so as to facilitate the second autumn shoot in mid-to-late October.

5. Autumn shoot-strengthening fertilizer

In early to mid-September, when the first autumn shoot turns green, promptly apply per plant 0.3-0.5 kg of compound fertilizer, diluted with water for drenching. When the first autumn shoot is fully mature in late September to early October, promptly apply water and fertilizer to force the second autumn shoot, using 0.3-0.5 kg of peanut bran (composted and decomposed) per plant diluted with 30 kg of water for drenching.

Guiyuan is suitable for frail elderly people, as well as for people with poor memory, dizziness and insomnia, but it is not suitable for people with symptoms such as excess internal heat and inflammation.
