Can Spring Corn Be Sown at the End of March? A Detailed Guide to Planting Times
Yes. Generally, from south to north, areas where spring corn is sown range from mid-February to early May, and it is generally best to sow when the soil temperature at a depth of 10 cm is stable above 10°C.
Spring corn is generally grown more in the three northeastern provinces and the Inner Mongolia region (it is also grown elsewhere), and it is often an area where one crop is grown per year (there are exceptions).
Generally, the sowing time for spring corn is from mid-to-late April to mid-May each year, and most of it is sown during this period. Of course, some are sown earlier and some later, with special circumstances being the exception.
However, if sown too early, the outside temperature is low, resulting in lower soil temperature, and if it then encounters a region with more rainfall, the seeds will become moldy or rot, leading to missing plants and gaps in the rows.
If sown too late, the growth period is shortened, and if early frost then occurs, it will affect the corn yield and the quality of the corn kernels.
