How to mix waist fertilizer for Clivia? Detailed method shared
Crush sunflower seeds, soybeans, peanuts, sesame seeds, etc., then dig open the surface soil of the Clivia, put the crushed sunflower seeds, peanuts, etc. in, and cover with soil. Note that when placing the waist fertilizer, do not let it touch the roots of the Clivia.
Clivia fertilizing:
1. Apply base fertilizer (also called basal fertilizer)
Base fertilizer for Clivia should be applied when repotting every year. In my opinion, for Clivia kept at home, the commonly used fertilizers added to the soil should mainly be roasted hemp seeds, perilla seeds, castor seeds, bone meal, and charcoal.
2. Topdressing
Topdressing is mainly to promote the growth of the plant. Clivia can be given fertilizers such as cake fertilizer, fish meal, and bone meal. Apply less for newly planted ones; later, as the plant grows and leaves increase, the amount of fertilizer should also gradually increase. When fertilizing, dig open the potting soil and apply it into the soil at a depth of 2-3 cm, but note that the fertilizer applied should not be too close to the root system, to prevent burning the roots. Applying this kind of solid fertilizer once a month is usually enough, and it should not be more frequent.
3. Apply liquid fertilizer as topdressing
Applying liquid fertilizer as topdressing means diluting the fully decomposed supernatant liquid of soaked and fermented animal and plant matter with 30-40 parts clean water, then pouring it onto the potting soil. For small wheat seedlings, it is suitable to dilute with 40 times water; for medium seedlings, 30 times water; for large seedlings, only 20 times water. After applying the fertilizer liquid, 1-2 days later, follow with one watering of clean water (the amount of water should not be too much), so that the fertilizer seeps into the root system in the potting soil and fully exerts its fertilizing effect. Do not water 1-2 days before applying liquid fertilizer; let the potting soil be a bit drier before applying the fertilizer liquid, which is more effective. The best time to fertilize is early morning; when pouring, the fertilizer liquid should be poured along the edge of the pot, and take care to avoid applying it on the plant and leaves.
In addition, Clivia has different fertilizer types and amounts in different seasons and under different growth conditions. Fellow flower growers should still make adjustments according to the actual situation and should not blindly copy.
