How long has wheat been cultivated in China?
Wheat began to be widely cultivated in our country around 3000 BC. Through two site surveys conducted in 1985 and 1986, carbonized wheat and barley grains were discovered. After the Han Dynasty, wheat gradually spread southward, while the north also continued to develop. Starting in 1996, our country began to implement quota management for wheat, making it one of the important staple grains.
Wheat Cultivation Techniques
1. Land
The first step in growing wheat is the land. Before cultivation, use farm machinery to loosen the soil so that the wheat sprouts can grow fully. Then rotary till the land well and spread organic fertilizer that benefits wheat growth.
2. Seed Selection
When selecting wheat, choose mainly those of good quality. After the wheat is selected, dress the seeds with pesticide before planting, that is, mix insect-prevention medicine into the wheat to prevent it from being eaten by insects after being planted in the ground. There is also something we need to pay attention to before sowing: first, when dressing the seeds, the moisture must not be too high, lest it affect the sowing and make it difficult to sow properly, affecting the amount of seed used per mu of land. Second, it must be mixed evenly so that all the wheat can be coated with pesticide, preventing it from being eaten by insects.
3. Planting
Each mu of land generally needs one hundred jin of fertilizer. Before sowing, the land must be plowed twice. The first pass is mainly to crush the large stalks in the field, and the second pass is mainly to level the land, so that the soil becomes softer. When sowing, there must be seeds on both sides.
