Peperomia, also known as baby rubber plant or pepper grass, is a perennial evergreen succulent herbaceous plant that mainly grows in tropical and subtropical regions. Its leaves stay green all year round, as green as jade, and it is a decorative flowering plant grown in many homes. So what are the methods for growing peperomia and the precautions to take?

1. How to Grow Peperomia

1. Choosing soil: Growing peperomia requires an environment rich in humus, loose and well drained. You can mix leaf mold, river sand and a small amount of base fertilizer into a growing medium.

2. Watering: During the peak growing season, peperomia should be watered more, and in hot weather the amount of water should also be very large. Generally, water once in the morning or evening. Peperomia needs to maintain the humidity of the soil and the air so that the leaves can stay green. But in winter, peperomia enters a dormant state, and the potting soil can be kept appropriately drier.

3. Fertilizing: Peperomia's soil is best replaced every 2 to 3 years. Fertilizing peperomia is generally done in spring and autumn, once every 10 days, using 20% decomposed cake fertilizer water. During the high temperatures of summer, do not fertilize, so as to avoid root rot.

4. Temperature: Peperomia is a plant that likes a warm and humid environment. The most suitable growing temperature is around 25 degrees. In winter, it should generally be kept at 10 to 15 degrees. If the temperature is below 10 degrees, peperomia may freeze to death.

5. Light: Peperomia likes a semi-shady environment and can be placed in a bright spot indoors in all four seasons and grown under diffused light. In spring and autumn, it can appropriately receive more light, but the light should be suitable. If the light is too strong or too weak, the leaves of peperomia will lose their color.

2. Precautions for Growing Peperomia

1. When growing peperomia, generally pay attention to its height. When it is about 10 cm tall, pinch off the growing tip. This can promote the sprouting of side buds and make the plant grow fuller.

2. The cultivation and care of peperomia are relatively simple. It only needs to be shaded in spring, summer and autumn, and in winter it can appropriately receive slanting sunlight.

3. Peperomia care requires attention to light intensity and watering. Peperomia likes a cool and humid environment.

4. Peperomia is not cold tolerant. In late autumn, it needs to be placed indoors for growing, keeping the room temperature steady to avoid cold damage to peperomia in a low-temperature environment.

The daily care of peperomia is very simple. You only need to pay simple attention to sunlight and watering. It is a very good plant for home greenery and can make your home look more beautiful.
