What are the conditions for growing papaya? The environmental requirements explained in one go
Growing papaya requires choosing sandy soil, which can increase high yields; a reasonable planting density is key, plant one every 70-80cm on flat terrain, while mountain plots generally need two to three meters of spacing. Fertilize from late March to early April, and water according to growth conditions.
Papaya Growing Conditions
1. Seed and site selection
Generally, planting is done in sandy soil with good sunlight, sufficient soil fertility and a relatively loose texture; when selecting seeds, choose the best according to the local climate and environment.
2. Land preparation and fertilization
When preparing the land, we need to deep-plow the soil once, then spread enough fertilizer as base fertilizer; the usual way to apply base fertilizer is to put an appropriate amount of farmyard manure into each hole where papaya is to be planted.
3. Planting density
On ordinary terrain, plant one every seventy to eighty centimeters; in less fertile mountain plots, generally two to three meters of spacing is needed, while in more fertile soil areas the distance is four to five meters. Only in this way can the growing space and sunlight that papaya needs be guaranteed.
