Is Aglaia odorata suitable for the bedroom? Care for it this way and it will thrive
Every summer, Aglaia odorata blooms, carrying a faint delicate fragrance similar to that of orchids. Aglaia odorata is fairly common in southern China, planted in the open ground in courtyards to accent the setting, while in northern China it is grown more often in pots, because it needs greenhouse cultivation. So is Aglaia odorata suitable for placing in the bedroom? How do you care for it so it grows well?
1. Is Aglaia odorata suitable for placing in the bedroom?
Aglaia odorata can generally be kept in the bedroom as well. Its leaves are very small but very lush, and during photosynthesis it can release a relatively large amount of oxygen, so keeping it indoors or in the bedroom is fine, and it can also help purify the air. However, so that our sleep quality is not affected, it is not recommended to place too many green plants in the bedroom, and at the same time, for the plant to grow better, keeping it in places such as the living room or balcony is also fairly reasonable.
2. How do you care for Aglaia odorata so it grows well?
1. Watering
For Aglaia odorata to grow well, it must be watered scientifically. Aglaia odorata is not a flower that needs a lot of water, so watering is mainly decided by the moisture level of the potting soil. In summer, water more often, but do not let water accumulate in the pot. To cool down the Aglaia odorata, you can spray water around the leaves to increase air humidity, which can also clean the leaves. In winter, the interval between waterings can be longer; generally water again when the potting soil is slightly dry.
2. Temperature
Aglaia odorata grows best in a warm environment, especially at temperatures of 15-24°C; particularly in the early stage of growth, temperature has a fairly large effect on the growth of Aglaia odorata.
Summer temperatures are high, so it can be kept on a balcony with no strong light and good ventilation. If it is spring or autumn, when the temperature difference between day and night is fairly large, it can be moved outdoors at noon. In winter, the temperature is too low, so do not put it outdoors, otherwise frost damage will occur, ranging from leaf drop in mild cases to the death of the whole plant in severe cases.
3. Light
Aglaia odorata can also grow in a semi-shaded environment, so its light requirements are not very high; generally four hours of light a day is enough. If the light is too strong, the leaves of Aglaia odorata will wither and turn yellow, and if there is not enough light, the whole Aglaia odorata plant will drop its leaves.
4. Soil
Aglaia odorata has fairly high soil requirements, so it must be grown in acidic soil that is highly breathable, well drained and fairly fertile. It is worth noting that for Aglaia odorata to grow well, the potting soil must be changed twice a year, and when doing so, try not to damage the roots, otherwise it will be hard for it to survive.
For the beauty of a potted Aglaia odorata, we can also choose a pot we like, but try to choose ceramic or clay pots, as these are more breathable and better for the growth of Aglaia odorata.
