Lucky clover refers to four-leaf alfalfa or clover, with leaves that are emerald green or green, oval or heart-shaped, and with white veins in the center of the leaf, symbolizing unity. So, how do you plant lucky clover?

1. Lucky clover planting methods

1. Soil

Lucky clover has no strict soil requirements. As long as the soil is not strongly saline-alkaline, other types of soil can be used for planting. Deeply plow and level the soil, and apply sufficient base fertilizer in combination with deep plowing, applying organic fertilizer and superphosphate; before sowing, shallowly till the soil again and apply ammonium nitrate.

2. Sowing

Before sowing, soak the seeds in concentrated sulfuric acid for 20-30 minutes, remove them and rinse them clean with water, then dry them. Then scatter the seeds over the soil. The sowing depth is 1-2 cm; sowing too deeply makes it difficult for seedlings to emerge.

3. Fertilizer and water

If the soil is dry, water promptly, or irrigate together with topdressing. In spring and autumn, before green-up and before regrowth after grazing or cutting, harrow and loosen the soil, and combine loosening the soil with topdressing, applying superphosphate to promote the growth and development of new buds and new roots.

4. Pests and diseases

The main diseases of lucky clover include anthracnose and leaf spot, and the pest is scale insects. For diseases, spray a 1000-fold solution of 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder for control; for pests, spray a 1000-fold solution of 40% omethoate emulsion to kill them.

2. Lucky clover planting time

Lucky clover can be planted in spring, summer, and autumn. In colder high-altitude areas, sowing in spring and summer is preferable; if autumn sowing is carried out, it should be done early. If in northern regions, autumn sowing is best, with the sowing period from August 10 to September 10; too late will affect normal overwintering.
