The cashew is one of the world's four famous dried nuts, kidney-shaped and yellowish-brown in color. It can be used in cooking and also as medicine, and it is a good therapeutic fruit for patients with high blood lipids and coronary heart disease. Below is an introduction to the growing conditions for cashews.

1. Soil

The cashew has low requirements for soil. Except for heavy clay and soil developed on limestone, where it grows poorly, it can grow normally in other soils, but loose, fertile loam or sandy loam with good drainage and aeration is best. Avoid low-lying land with poor drainage or plots with high salinity and alkalinity.

2. Temperature

The cashew is a tree species that loves warmth and is not cold-tolerant, requiring very high temperatures during the growing period. When the monthly average temperature is around 23-30°C, the plant flowers and fruits normally; at around 20°C, the plant grows slowly; below 17°C, the plant is prone to cold damage; below 15°C, the plant suffers severe damage and dies.

3. Light

The cashew is a strongly heliophilous tree species. When choosing a site, plant it in a sunny spot, give it 4-6 hours of light per day, and 1500-2500 hours of light per year is best. If there is sufficient light, the plant grows well and produces more flowers and fruits; if there is insufficient light, the plant grows poorly and produces fewer flowers and fruits.

4. Water

The peak growing season for cashews is in the early rainy season. With sufficient water, they grow quickly, but they must not be waterlogged, to prevent root rot, so drainage measures should be taken.
