What are the cultivation methods for potted feverfew?
Feverfew is also known as small white chrysanthemum, a biennial herbaceous flower of the Asteraceae family, order Asterales, generally blooming from May to July, with flowers resembling daisies, white in color, and a strong chrysanthemum fragrance. Here we introduce the cultivation methods for potted feverfew.
1. Sowing
Feverfew is generally propagated by seed, with sowing usually carried out in September to October. When sowing, scatter the seeds over the soil in the flower pot, cover lightly with soil, keep moist, and wait for germination. Feverfew is not particular about soil, but loose, fertile, moist loam or sandy loam is best.
2. Light and Temperature
Feverfew likes a sunny environment; insufficient light will lead to poor growth and flowering, so it should be placed in a sunny spot for care. The suitable growing temperature for feverfew is 15°C-25°C; below minus 5°C it will suffer cold damage, so it should be kept indoors; above 30°C growth is poor, so it should be kept in a cool, ventilated place.
3. Water and Fertilizer
Feverfew likes a moist environment; usually keeping the soil moist is enough, but it must not be too wet, otherwise it will cause root rot. After feverfew becomes a mature seedling, apply a little topdressing to promote robust seedling growth; during the growing period, fertilize once every half month with a nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium compound fertilizer at a ratio of 2:1:2.
4. Pests and Diseases
The tender stems of feverfew are easily attacked by aphids. If aphids are found, you can spray with 2.5% rotenone diluted 500 times with water, or spray with 10-15g of imidacloprid mixed with 5000-7500 times water.
The above are the cultivation methods for potted feverfew. We hope they are useful to everyone.
