Sanhua Town in Wengyuan County is the birthplace of Sanhua plum, and it has also been promoted and cultivated across several towns in Maoming and Xinyi City, Guangdong Province, among which the most famous are Qianpai Town, Chashan Town, and Hongguan Town in Xinyi. Among them, the Sanhua plum production in Qianpai Town is the production base with the largest planting area, the highest output, the best quality, and the best benefits in the province, known as “China's No. 1 Sanhua Plum Town”. The branches of the Sanhua plum tree droop softly, it blooms around the Start of Spring, and the fruit ripens and comes to market around the Summer Solstice. There are two major varieties, early-ripening and late-ripening; after the early-ripening harvest, it is exactly the good season for the late-ripening ones to come to market.
