Is Ehime citrus a genetically modified fruit? Explained clearly in one article
Maybe everyone has heard of Ehime No. 38, which is the name of a trending citrus variety. Its taste is rather like jelly, so it is also called jelly orange. So is Ehime genetically modified?
1. Is Ehime genetically modified?
In fact, Ehime No. 38 citrus is a new hybrid citrus variety, bred by crossing Nanxiang mandarin × Xizi fragrant, and is not so-called genetically modified. Its fruit is round, deep orange, with sparse oil cells, smooth, and attractive in appearance. The average fruit weight is 250 grams, and it peels easily. It contains 15° sugar and less than 0.5° acid, is seedless, has a tender and melting texture, is fragrant and refreshing, and has excellent flavor. It stores well and has strong cold resistance.
2. In which month does it mature and go on the market?
Ehime No. 38 generally goes on the market in October, and November is when its taste and quality are at their best. It matures at the same time as Nanxiang, but it is crisper, more tender, and more melting than Nanxiang, and it also makes up for Nanxiang's shortcoming of insufficient moisture in the later period. Therefore Ehime is also called the queen of citrus, combining the sweetness and delicacy of mandarin with the juiciness and fragrance of orange, and the flesh is especially tender, refreshing, and bouncy.
3. What should be noted when eating it?
Ehime is full of moisture and also very high in sugar, but it should not be eaten in large amounts. If you eat too much, you may get a sore throat, and if you are then affected by the external environment, you may develop a fever, or it may also be an allergic reaction in some people.
Ehime is not genetically modified. Although it can be eaten with more peace of mind, you should not eat too many at once. It is best not to exceed 2 per day.
