How do you plant vegetable seeds? The right method from sowing to sprouting
Growing vegetables and harvesting them is a very fulfilling thing, and many friends are willing to give it a try. Today let's learn how to plant vegetable seeds.
1. How to plant vegetable seeds
There are three methods. Vegetable seeds are relatively small, so use broadcasting: just scatter the seeds evenly over the soil; for small to medium-sized vegetable seeds, use drilling: open furrows at a certain row spacing and sow; when the vegetable seeds are larger and fewer in number, use dibbling: dig holes at a certain spacing and sow the seeds in them.
2. The process of planting vegetable seeds
1. Choose the size of the planting area according to the amount of vegetable seeds to be sown, to avoid waste. The chosen planting area should be fertile, with soft soil and good air permeability. Before planting, turn the soil over once.
2. Some small-grained vegetable seeds can be planted directly, such as chili seeds. Some vegetable seeds are harder and larger and need soaking and sprouting to increase the germination rate. Different vegetable seeds have different soaking and sprouting times and temperatures. For example, celery, cilantro and other cool-loving vegetables sown in the high-temperature seasons of summer and autumn are generally sprouted at around 20°C for about 24 hours before sowing.
3. After different seeds are broadcast, drilled or dibbled, cover them well with a thin layer of soil; the thickness should not be too deep, so as to prevent the seeds from being killed by the sun or drying out. After covering, water appropriately, but do not let water accumulate.
4. Before the seeds germinate, control the temperature well: the nighttime temperature must not be too low, and the daytime temperature must not be too high. Of course, different vegetable seeds also have different temperature requirements.
Generally, vegetable seeds can be sown in March and April, but different vegetables still have different needs. It is best to choose suitable seeds to sow according to your own needs.
