How to grow Sanhua plums? Master these key planting techniques
To plant Sanhua plums, you must first choose a good orchard site, then arrange a reasonable planting density; make use of seasonal changes and soil weathering to carry out the base fertilizer and backfilling work. As a deciduous fruit tree, the fertilizing and watering of Sanhua plums are determined according to their growth conditions, and pest and disease control must also be attended to.
Sanhua Plum Cultivation Techniques
1. Sanhua plum is a deciduous fruit tree, and it is generally best to plant from the Great Cold solar term to before bud break, as this gives a high survival rate and fast growth.
2. The planting depth should be such that the soil does not cover the graft union (that is, the junction between the underground root system and the aboveground trunk). When planting, hold the main trunk of the sapling upright, let the root system spread out naturally, then fill the pit gaps with fine soil, shape it into a tree basin, water thoroughly to settle the roots, and then thinly cover with a layer of loose soil. 2-3 days after planting, the soil will sink slightly; at this point, set up a support to hold the sapling upright and prevent it from being blown over.
3. At the same time, the tree basin should be covered with grass, and water should be applied frequently to keep it moist. After one month, begin topdressing to promote the sprouting of new roots and the growth of new shoots.
4. Fertilizing and watering are mainly determined according to growth conditions, and pests and diseases must be treated early; delay may cause damage to the Sanhua plums.
