When is the flowering period of the desert rose?
The flowering period of the desert rose is May-December. The desert rose should be repotted once a year, and raising the roots is somewhat beneficial to its growth. Ordinary care mainly involves watering and fertilizing; watering should be done in the cool morning or evening, and topdressing depends on the growth situation.
How to prune the desert rose
1. For small desert rose seedlings, the terminal bud should be removed when the plant height is about 10cm to encourage branching. After the branches grow out, keep 3~5 branches as the main branches. The main branches should be selected in different directions and should have a certain three-dimensional effect. All other branches should be removed. When the main branches grow to a certain height, they need to be cut back, and the height to keep depends on the specifications required for the finished plant.
2. From the branches growing out of the main branches, take 3~4 branches respectively as the main lateral branches. The method of keeping and cutting them back is the same as that used for the main branches. After that, on the basis of the main lateral branches, use the same method to cultivate lateral branches level by level, then carry out about 4 rounds of cutting back, and the branching will meet the requirements.
If you want to graft other superior varieties onto the desert rose plant, you can do it on the main branches after cutting back. The branches that survive grafting should be shaped according to the above method.
