The money tree is also known as Malabar chestnut, Guiana chestnut and American peanut. Its leaves are emerald green all year round, and its stem and trunk are arranged in a unique and beautiful shape. Young plants can be placed on a north-facing windowsill in bright light, a bedside table, a plant stand or a coffee table. So what are the growing methods, points to note and pruning for the money tree?

1. Growing methods

1. Position: It likes light, so place it in a spot with good light, preferably with good ventilation too. Once placed, do not move it, and never put it somewhere with strong radiation such as a TV or computer.

2. Watering: Its water requirements are very particular; if it is not watered well, it may very likely die. It does not tolerate water, and its root system is not well developed, so do not water it too much, to prevent root rot from excess water.

3. Light: Its sunlight requirements are not strict; it can grow in a partial-sun environment, but turn the pot from time to time so it receives light evenly.

4. Temperature: Its temperature requirements are also quite high; above 15°C is best. If the temperature is too low, the plant may very likely drop its leaves.

2. Points to note

1. During the rainy season, do not let the plant be exposed to rain, otherwise water will accumulate at the bottom of the pot.

2. Prune regularly; just cut off any diseased or weak branches that appear.
