How should you manage peppers during the flowering stage?
During the flowering stage of peppers, you must water them promptly, as their demand for water is relatively high at this time. At the same time, increase the application of organic fertilizer and phosphorus-potassium fertilizer, and apply nitrogen fertilizer appropriately. In addition, spray foliar fertilizer on the pepper plants to prevent flower drop, leaf drop and fruit drop. What else should be noted besides this?
What should be noted during the flowering stage of peppers?
1. Supplement chelated boron fertilizer appropriately
Boron fertilizer is a trace element; it is recommended to spray it 3 to 5 times during the pepper growing period, and it must not be used in excess. You can choose the formula: potassium dihydrogen phosphate + boron fertilizer + triacontanol for foliar spraying.
2. Control excessive vegetative growth
If the pepper plants grow excessively, it will cause flower and fruit drop; you can use regulators such as Aiduoshou and chlormequat to regulate the growth.
3. Water reasonably
Peppers are a crop that likes moisture and fears both drought and waterlogging. When the soil is not particularly dry, peppers should be watered as little as possible, especially avoiding heavy watering. If watering is excessive, it often causes root rot, bacterial wilt and other diseases, and also causes excessive vegetative growth of the plants, leading to flower and fruit drop in the later stage of peppers; if the soil is too dry and not watered, it will hinder the absorption of nutrients by peppers, cause slow growth of peppers, affect flower bud differentiation and pollination of peppers, and also cause flower and fruit drop.
4. Spray pesticides in advance
Before peppers flower, you can use 5% chlorothalonil dust for dusting + 100-fold solution of Xin'gaozhi film, once every 7 days, 2—3 times in a row, to prevent pest and disease damage. You can also spray pepper stem-strengthening agent before flowering to prevent flower and fruit drop.
For watering during the pepper flowering stage, it is recommended to do it in the morning, while ensuring moisture, to improve the pollination rate.
