Taiwan green jujube is not only crisp and delicious, but its stems, branches, flowers, and even leaves and bark all have extremely high utilization value, making it an excellent fruit variety with great development prospects. So, what are the cultivation techniques for Taiwan green jujube?

1. Site selection and land preparation

Green jujube is suitable for growing in deep, loose, fertile soil with good drainage in a weakly acidic to slightly alkaline environment, so when selecting a site, try to choose weakly acidic to slightly alkaline loam or sandy loam for planting.

After selecting the site, deep plow the soil, and dig a hole 2 m wide and 1 m deep at a plant spacing of 6 m and row spacing of 5 m, then apply 15 kg of decomposed poultry and livestock manure, 0.5 kg of phosphate fertilizer and 1 kg of bran fertilizer, and mix them evenly for subsequent planting.

2. Reasonable planting

Plant the seedlings at a density of 6 m plant spacing and 5 m row spacing. When planting, it is advisable to use nutrient-bag jujube seedlings with well-preserved root systems. During planting, first gently remove the nutrient bag from the fruit seedling, then trim the main root flat at the bottom of the bag and plant it with soil in the planting hole. Then water thoroughly to settle the roots, and once the seedling begins to sprout, start applying 0.5 kg per plant of Puquan organic fertilizer.

3. Field management

Fertilizer requirements: Green jujube has high fertilizer requirements. Generally, during the young tree stage, nitrogen fertilizer is mainly used, and during the fruiting stage, potassium fertilizer and phosphate fertilizer are mainly used. When fertilizing, try to determine the amount based on the fertility of the potting soil.

Water requirements: Green jujube has high water requirements. Generally, water demand is higher during the branch and leaf growth period. Before flowering and before fruiting, watering should be appropriately reduced, and once the fruit grows to the size of a thumb, watering can resume.

Pruning and shaping: After growing for some time, green jujube will produce many branches and low branches. At this point, these branches should be pruned according to the tree's growth condition to improve air circulation in the orchard and reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases.

Flower and fruit thinning: After green jujube blooms, it will produce many flowers. At this point, excess flowers and fruits should be removed according to the degree of density to improve the fruit-setting rate.

Pest and disease control: During the growth period of green jujube, pests and diseases such as scale insects and fruit flies will appear, so preventive measures should be taken in advance. For those already affected by pests and diseases, specialized agents such as trichlorfon or chlorpyrifos can be used for control.

Taiwan green jujube is a very easy fruit to grow. By simply paying attention to basic management tasks such as water and fertilizer, pest and disease control, and pruning, a good harvest can be achieved.
