The two differ in appearance and in the part used for eating. The kohlrabi leaves grow on a shortened stem, the base is rather pointed, and the shapes include elliptical, ovate, obovate and lanceolate; the part eaten is the root stem. Cabbage has many basal leaves, thick in texture, wrapping layer upon layer into a spherical body, appearing flattened-globular, and its leaves are the part eaten.

Kohlrabi and cabbage are introduced as follows:

1. Kohlrabi

Kohlrabi is an annual or biennial herb of the genus Brassica in the crucifer family. It is a famous specialty vegetable of China, native to China, and a common vegetable cultivated throughout the country, mostly distributed in the provinces south of the Yangtze River. The main and lateral roots of the mustard plant are distributed within about 30 cm of the soil layer; the stem is a shortened stem, the leaves grow on the shortened stem, and the shapes include elliptical, ovate, obovate and lanceolate. The leaf color is green, dark green, light green, yellow-green, green with stripes, or purplish red.

2. Cabbage

Cabbage is an annual or biennial herb of the genus Brassica in the crucifer family; it is a biennial herb covered with a powdery bloom. The short and sturdy annual stem is fleshy, unbranched, green or gray-green. The basal leaves are thick in texture, wrapping layer upon layer into a spherical body, flattened-globular, milky white or pale green; the biennial stem is branched and bears stem leaves. The apex of the basal leaves is rounded, the base abruptly narrows into a very short petiole with broad wings, and the margin has wavy, indistinct serrations; the upper stem leaves are ovate or oblong-ovate, with the base clasping the stem; the uppermost leaves are oblong, about 4.5 cm long and about 1 cm wide, clasping the stem. The raceme is terminal and axillary; the flowers are pale yellow, 2-2.5 cm in diameter; the pedicel is 7-15 mm long; the sepals are erect, linear-oblong; the petals are broadly elliptic-obovate or nearly round, slightly notched at the apex, the base abruptly narrowing into a claw, the claw 5-7 mm long. The silique is cylindrical, slightly flattened on both sides, with a prominent midvein and a conical beak; the pedicel is thick, upright and spreading. The seeds are spherical, brown. The flowering period is April, and the fruiting period is May.

Although kohlrabi and cabbage both belong to the crucifer family, the two differ in appearance and in the part used for eating. I hope the above content is helpful to everyone.
