After the orchid flowering period, the flower stem should be cut off to reduce nutrient consumption, and at the same time loosen the soil appropriately to ensure root growth. Also remove the dead, old and yellow leaves on the plant or in the pot, and bury a small amount of fertilizer in the pot. Finally, place it in a sunny and ventilated place. Then how should the orchid be cared for after the flowering period so that it blooms again?

How should the orchid be cared for so that it blooms again?

1. Pruning

If your orchid is usually cared for properly, with no withering, yellow leaves, and so on, you can cut the stem after the flowering period at the third or fourth flower node of the orchid, or you can cut from the base. If you cut at the third or fourth node, new flower buds will emerge from the cut place later; if you cut from the base, a new flower stem will grow out again on its own.

2. Moving the pot

Orchids do not like an environment that is too cold, so after the flowering period, move it to a place with scattered light and no direct sunlight, and with good ventilation.

3. Watering

Flowers do not need much water, so it is best to water only after the soil is dry, but if you water, you must water thoroughly.

4. Fertilizing

For fertilizing, use organic fertilizer; the key point is to apply light fertilizer frequently, and applying fertilizer once a month is enough. For four months after the flowering period, you can apply some phosphorus fertilizer every week, dissolving the phosphorus fertilizer in water before watering the flowers, so that after the flower stem grows out, the flowers can bloom larger and more brilliantly.

5. Repotting
Orchids that have generally been grown for 1-2 years need repotting. When repotting after the flowering period, first clean off all the flower soil, take out the dead flower roots, and then plant them into a newly prepared flower pot.

In addition to proper management after the flowering period being able to promote reblooming, proper management during the flowering period can also let the orchid bloom again, or directly prolong the flowering period.
