A Detailed Guide to Orange Tree Cultivation Techniques and Management Methods
Oranges are rich in vitamin C, and many people enjoy eating them. When an orange tree bears fruit, it is very beautiful and spectacular. How can you cultivate an orange tree so that it produces delicious fruit?
Cultivation Techniques for Orange Trees
1. The planting seedling selected should be thick and sturdy, of a good variety, guaranteed free of pests and diseases, with a relatively thick trunk and 2-3 branches.
2. The place where orange trees are planted can be mountain land or sloping land, but the soil layer must be deep, fertile, and have sufficient sunlight. Before planting, the soil needs to be plowed. Then dig the planting holes, about 60*60*60cm in size. After digging the holes, apply sufficient base fertilizer. Farmyard manure and compound fertilizer can be buried in.
3. When planting young seedlings, reasonable close planting should be used. The planting spacing is about two meters between each plant and about three meters between each row.
4. Young saplings need to be fertilized 6 times per year. This is mainly to promote branch and shoot development, with nitrogen fertilizer as the main type. For 1-year-old trees, use 25-50 grams of urea per plant; for 2-year-old trees, use about 0.1 kg of urea per plant, plus manure water or decomposed bean bran water for drenching. Vigorous shoot fertilizer is applied during the new shoot elongation period, mainly with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer; for 1-year-old trees, apply 75 grams of compound fertilizer per plant; for 2-year-old trees, apply 0.1 kg per plant.
5. When orange trees begin to bear fruit, fertilizer to promote budding, fertilizer to strengthen fruit, and so on need to be applied. Bud-promoting fertilizer is applied in late January, with 0.1 kg of urea, 0.2-0.3 kg of compound fertilizer, 50 grams of borax, and 50 grams of magnesium sulfate per plant; fruit-strengthening fertilizer is applied in late May after the second physiological fruit drop of oranges, with 0.4-0.75 kg of compound fertilizer plus 75 grams of potassium sulfate per plant; fertilizer to promote autumn shoots is applied in late July, with 0.25 kg of urea and 1 kg of compound fertilizer drenched per plant; fruit-picking fertilizer is applied 3 days before harvest, with 0.25 kg each of urea and compound fertilizer drenched per plant.
6. Orange trees at the seedling stage should be watered frequently, but waterlogging must not be allowed, and drainage should be done well when there is more rain. When fruiting, water once every half month, and water less while the fruit is growing, so that sugar can accumulate.
7. During the growth period of orange trees, orchard management work should be done well. At the seedling stage, do a good job of weeding and prune messy branches and leaves. When fruiting, trim the tree canopy well and promptly cut off damaged, diseased, and weak branches and leaves.
8. Orange trees are susceptible to diseases such as canker and anthracnose. As for pests, the main ones are red spiders, arrowhead scales, aphids, and so on. Use different pesticides according to different symptoms.
When cultivating orange trees, water and fertilizer management should be done well. The quality of the fruit cannot be separated from care in all aspects. I hope everyone can grow delicious oranges.
