As long as they have not spoiled, sprouted lotus seeds can still be eaten. However, it is generally still recommended to eat harvested lotus seeds as soon as possible or dry them for storage. Although sprouted lotus seeds no longer taste good, they are also great for growing as potted plants. Below is an introduction to how to grow lotus flowers from sprouted lotus seeds.

How do you plant sprouted lotus seeds?

1. Temperature control

The sprouts of lotus seeds are very delicate. If the water temperature is not controlled well and fluctuates between hot and cold when changing or adding water, it will affect the growth of the lotus seed sprouts and, in severe cases, cause them to die. Therefore, do not casually add water at a different temperature. You can place a bucket of water next to the lotus seeds being grown; since they are exposed to the same natural heating conditions, use this reserved bucket of water when adding water. It is very convenient.

2. Planting

After the sprouted lotus seeds grow fibrous roots and leaves, they can be planted. When planting, do not let the fibrous roots grow too long; if they are too long, they are easily broken when put into the pot. Plant the fine roots of the lotus seeds into prepared soil (the soil can be unpolluted river pond mud) and add an appropriate amount of water. The water added must not submerge the leaves.

3. Management

After 2-3 weeks of transplanting, they enter the vigorous growth period. If the leaves turn yellow, a small amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium ternary compound fertilizer can be applied as a top dressing, applying dilute fertilizer frequently. Lotus likes warmth and light and cannot tolerate shade. When the outside temperature is below 16°C, growth slows, and they should be moved indoors.

In addition, during the high temperatures of summer, water evaporates quickly, so you can water appropriately. But in winter, water less.
