Oxheart cabbage and cabbage both belong to the Brassicaceae family, Brassica genus, and both are head cabbages, but there are many varieties of cabbage, and oxheart cabbage is one of them. Cabbage is round and white, while oxheart cabbage is kidney-shaped and green. Cabbage is usually stir-fried, while oxheart cabbage is usually made into pickles. Oxheart cabbage is somewhat better at clearing heat and detoxifying, while cabbage is somewhat better at preventing and fighting cancer and treating stomach ulcers.

How do you make pickles from oxheart cabbage?

Step one: prepare one oxheart cabbage, tear off the leaves along the veins, and rinse them clean under running water.

Step two: put the rinsed oxheart cabbage in a basin, add clean water to cover the leaves, add an appropriate amount of salt, and soak for 10 minutes.

Step two: take out the soaked oxheart cabbage leaves, drain off the water, and place them on a cutting board to cut into evenly thick fine shreds.

Step four: put the cut oxheart cabbage into a container, add minced garlic and salt, seal the container tightly, and shake for a while so the salt, minced garlic, and oxheart cabbage mix evenly. If you want it spicy, you can add some chili. Leave it at room temperature for four or five days, and once you see the color of the vegetables turn yellow, you can take it out and eat it.
