Longya lily generally refers to Longhui Longya lily, a specialty of Longhui County, Hunan Province, and a China National Geographical Indication product. It has a long cultivation history in Longhui, and its cultivation techniques are relatively mature. Below is a detailed look at Longya lily cultivation techniques.

Longya Lily Cultivation Techniques

1. Site selection and land preparation

Choose loam or sandy loam soil that is loose, fertile, deep, and rich in humus, slightly acidic. Do a good job of land preparation, ridging, and ditching. Before land preparation, apply base fertilizer to ensure the fertility of the land.

2. Sowing

Disinfect and dry the selected seed bulbs, then plant from late July to early August or around 10 days before and after the Start of Autumn. When inserting the scales, the base should slope downward and the inner side should face up to help the small bulb emerge. Then cover with 3-5 cm of soil and rake the ground level.

3. Watering

Spray water 1-2 times per week for 1-2 hours each time to achieve the effect of lowering temperature and retaining moisture. Field water capacity should be maintained at 80%-85% to prevent rot from excessive moisture and disease causing seedling death. However, when there is a lot of rain, pay attention to timely drainage.

4. Topdressing

Seedling fertilizer is applied in early March, using decomposed human and livestock manure and urine, potassium sulfate compound fertilizer, urea, etc. Among these, urea should be broadcast between rows before or during rain. In early to mid-April, heavily apply stem-strengthening fertilizer. In early to mid-June, apply one supplementary fertilizer or foliar fertilizer to lily seedlings with poor growth.

5. Disease control

Lily blight, gray mold, fusarium wilt, and viral disease are the main diseases of Longya lily. Shenqinmycin, DuPont Yibao, Yikuaijing, and other agents can be sprayed in advance to promptly prevent the occurrence and spread of diseases.

In addition, during the cultivation period, weed control should also be done well. Generally, herbicide is applied once each in February and May.
