Magnolia is one of the landscape flowers and trees in our country, and also an early-spring flowering tree with very high ornamental value. The oil pressed from magnolia seeds can also be used for industrial purposes. So how do you plant magnolia seeds?

1. Sowing time

The best sowing time for magnolia is from March to May and from August to October each year, because during these periods the seed germination rate is the highest and the plants grow best.

2. Sowing method

Select plump magnolia seeds, first soak the seeds in warm water for two days, then choose soil with sufficient sunlight and good drainage for planting. Before sowing, prepare the land, remove weeds, apply fertilizer, and water. Keep the sowing depth at about 2 cm.

3. Later management

1. Seedling cultivation: In the 1 to 2 years after sowing, when the seedlings of white magnolia emerge, pay attention to proper shading in midsummer and protect them from the cold after winter begins.

2. Transplanting: When transplanting, keep the soil around the roots and do not damage its root system. Apply base fertilizer at the transplanting site, and planting slightly deeper will help its growth.

3. Fertilizing: Pay attention to topdressing before and after flowering. Topdressing before flowering helps store nutrients for the flowering period, and topdressing after flowering helps replenish the nutrients consumed during the flowering period.
