When is the flowering season of nasturtium? How long can it bloom?
Nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus) is a perennial semi-trailing or prostrate plant. In the north it is often cultivated as an annual or biennial flower. Under suitable environmental conditions, it can bloom all year round. A single flower can last 8-9 days, and the whole plant can produce dozens of flowers at the same time. So when is the nasturtium flowering season?
1. Nasturtium flowering season
The nasturtium flowering time runs from June to October. When the growing environment is relatively suitable, nasturtium can also bloom all year round. As for the flowers of nasturtium, a single flower can generally last 8-9 days, and one nasturtium plant can generally have dozens of flowers open at the same time.
2. Controlling the nasturtium flowering season
The flowering season of nasturtium can be controlled manually. For example, if it is sown in autumn and grown indoors in North China, nasturtium can bloom in spring, but this requires controlling the growing environment of the nasturtium.
In winter and the early part of spring, the indoor temperature needs to be kept between 16°C——24°C, which can make it bloom.
In addition, if you want nasturtium to bloom at a suitable time, you need to choose the appropriate sowing time. If you want it to bloom at New Year's Day and the Spring Festival, you can sow in August; if you want it to bloom at May Day, you can sow indoors in December; if you want it to bloom at National Day, you can sow in May. By changing the sowing time of nasturtium in this way, you can make it bloom at different times, and there will be flowers to enjoy all year round.
When people grow nasturtium, it is mostly for viewing the flowers.
