Chili pepper is an indispensable seasoning in our daily cooking, and growing it is very easy, even at home. But sometimes during care you may notice chili pepper seedlings wilting. If chili pepper seedlings wilt, can they still come back to life?

1. Can wilted chili pepper seedlings come back to life?

As long as wilted chili pepper seedlings have not completely died, they can still be saved through certain methods, but this must be considered case by case.

1. Chili pepper seedlings will wilt when exposed to the sun during the day. For small home plantings, they can be moved to a shady spot; for field plantings, appropriate shading can be provided.

2. Chili pepper seedlings should be watered promptly when short of water, depending on whether the soil is dry or moist.

3. If diseases appear, such as root rot, medication is needed. Before planting, apply decomposed farmyard manure or commercial organic fertilizer plus biological bacterial agents to improve the soil environment. When transplanting, dip the soil ball with hymexazol plus rooting agent, and at the same time apply biological bacterial fertilizer in the planting holes.

2. Common problems with chili pepper seedlings

1. Late emergence. In low-temperature rainy weather, water in the bed seeps downward, the surface layer of the bed soil lacks water, and emergence is affected. You should choose a sunny noon to spray water with a sprayer to replenish moisture, maintain humidity, and promote emergence.

2. Seedling scorch. This mostly occurs in the middle stage of seedling raising when temperatures are changeable, and is a high-temperature physiological disaster caused by poor seedling-stage management. On sunny days, ventilation management should be done well; especially when the midday temperature on a sunny day exceeds 20°C, uncover the film completely, and when seedlings are small and weak, provide shade to prevent seedling scorch.

3. Seedling flash wilting. This is a physiological disease caused by sudden changes in the seedling growth environment due to improper ventilation management. After the film is removed, the seedlings shrink, and then the leaf edges curl upward and the leaves turn white and dry up. Attention should be paid to timely ventilation; open the vent on the leeward side and rotate the vent position.

4. Stunted seedlings. This is a physiological disorder caused by poor seedbed soil management and unreasonable seedbed structure, shown as small yellow leaves, slow growth, and thin, hard stems. Light should be increased, seedling-stage water should be supplied in time, bed soil moisture should be kept at 70%~80%, and foliar fertilizers such as Zhuangduoshou should be sprayed to promote seedling growth.

5. Seedling-stage diseases. The main seedling-stage diseases of chili pepper are damping-off and Rhizoctonia rot. Low temperature and high humidity easily cause damping-off, while high temperature and high humidity easily cause Rhizoctonia rot. To prevent them, spray in time with 70% thiophanate-methyl at 800 times or 50% mancozeb at 500 times.

How to rescue wilted chili pepper seedlings still needs to be considered according to the actual situation, but the premise of everything is that the chili pepper seedlings themselves have not died. I hope everyone can take good care of their plants during the growing process.
