Detailed Explanation of Cultivation Techniques and Key Planting Management Points for the Shaggy Mane Mushroom

General News By Sophie Bennett 0 views
The shaggy mane mushroom is a mushroom whose appearance resembles a chicken leg; because of its good taste and ease of cultivation, it is widely grown. So what are the cultivation techniques for the shaggy mane mushroom? 1. Cultivation season: The shaggy mane mushroom can be cultivated in both spring and autumn. For autumn cultivation, the spawn is generally prepared from June to August, and fruiting occurs from late September to early December; for spring cultivation, the spawn is generally prepared from November to February of the following year, and the spawn needs appropriate heating for mycelial running, with fruiting from April to June.

The shaggy mane mushroom is a mushroom whose appearance resembles a chicken leg; because of its good taste and ease of cultivation, it is widely grown. So what are the cultivation techniques for the shaggy mane mushroom?

1. Cultivation season

The shaggy mane mushroom can be cultivated in both spring and autumn. For autumn cultivation, the spawn is generally prepared from June to August, and fruiting occurs from late September to early December; for spring cultivation, the spawn is generally prepared from November to February of the following year, and the spawn needs appropriate heating for mycelial running, with fruiting from April to June.

2. Building the beds

For the shaggy mane mushroom, build beds according to the orientation of the mushroom shed, with 0.5 m walkways between them. Dig mushroom beds 80-100 cm wide and 15-20 cm deep inside the greenhouse, with no limit on length. Water thoroughly to saturate the bottom, and scatter 150 g of lime powder per square meter of bed surface.

3. Sowing

The layer-sowing method can be used for sowing, generally with 3 layers of substrate and 3 layers of spawn, a substrate thickness of 15-20 cm, and a sowing rate of 15-20%. First spread a 5 cm thick layer of growing substrate on the mushroom bed, then scatter a layer of spawn, and in this way spread a total of 3 layers of substrate and scatter 3 layers of spawn. After sowing, cover with sterilized plastic film and newspaper and carry out mycelial running management.

4. Mycelial running

Insert a thermometer through the plastic film to a depth of about 10 cm in the substrate to observe changes in substrate temperature. Starting from the fourth day after inoculation, lift the covering film once a day to allow ventilation and air exchange, and note that the substrate temperature at 10 cm must not exceed 25°C, preferably remaining below 25°C. When the substrate temperature is on the high side, increase nighttime ventilation inside the shed and ventilation under the covering film, or uncover the newspaper and spray an appropriate amount of clean water to cool it down. In about 20 days, the shaggy mane mushroom mycelium can spread throughout the substrate layer.

In short, the shaggy mane mushroom is very easy to cultivate. Simply dig the beds properly according to the mushroom shed, sow the growing substrate and spawn in three layers, then cover with film and control moisture and temperature well.
